Taking place in Upper Manhattan, the Dyckman Farmhouse Museum is inviting visual artists, architects, activists, theater makers, writers, curators, educators, and art initiative creators who have an active practice to submit a proposal of work based on the history of the enslaved people in Upper Manhattan. The open-call is for a Museum project that converges art, history, and activism; winning artists are invited to exhibit at Dyckman Farmhouse through March of 2021, using the media of their choice to ‘intervene the house,’ and allow the public to experience a new narrative in a sensorial and vivid way.
The Museum is open to host art installations and performances, showcase sculptures, augmented reality, sound projects, or other media to tell the story in a new and impactful way. Accompanying the exhibition, the guest-artist, architect, activist, curator, or initiative creator will offer a workshop to get a more in-depth encounter with the public.

Each artist will be required to participate in one public program related to their work. A stipend of $1000 will be awarded to winning artists to cover time and materials.

Uptown includes areas of Manhattan that are North of 98th Street on the East side and North of 110th Street on the West side.
