 AN ACT to amend the public health law, in  relation  to  establishing  a
   uterine fibroids awareness and education program
 
   THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1. Title 6 of article 2 of the public health law, as added  by
 chapter  342  of  the  laws  of 2014, is amended by adding a new section
 267-a to read as follows:
   § 267-A.  UTERINE FIBROIDS AWARENESS AND  EDUCATION  PROGRAM.  1.  THE
 DEPARTMENT  SHALL  CONDUCT  AN  ONGOING  PUBLIC  AWARENESS AND EDUCATION
 PROGRAM UNDER SECTION TWO HUNDRED SEVEN OF THIS ARTICLE ON THE SYMPTOMS,
 DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF UTERINE FIBROIDS AND THE  ELEVATED  RISK  FOR
 MINORITY WOMEN.
   2.  THE  DEPARTMENT SHALL PRODUCE AND DISTRIBUTE EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS
 ON THE ELEVATED RISKS OF UTERINE FIBROIDS FOR MINORITY  WOMEN,  SYMPTOMS
 OF  UTERINE  FIBROIDS  AND AVAILABLE TREATMENTS. SUCH MATERIALS SHALL BE
 MADE AVAILABLE TO APPROPRIATE HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS FOR DISTRIBUTION  TO
 PATIENTS. THE DEPARTMENT SHALL ALSO PROVIDE INFORMATION ON THE SYMPTOMS,
 DIAGNOSIS  AND  TREATMENT  OF UTERINE FIBROIDS AND THE ELEVATED RISK FOR
 MINORITY WOMEN ON THE DEPARTMENT'S INTERNET  WEBSITE.  NO  PROVISION  OF
 THIS  SUBDIVISION  SHALL  BE  DEEMED  TO  PROHIBIT  THE  UTILIZATION AND
 DISTRIBUTION OF EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS RELATING THERETO PRODUCED  BY  ANY
 PUBLIC,  PRIVATE  OR  GOVERNMENTAL  ENTITY,  IN LIEU OF THE DEPARTMENT'S
 PRODUCTION OF SUCH MATERIALS.
   3. THE DEPARTMENT SHALL PERIODICALLY  REVIEW  AVAILABLE  DATA  ON  THE
 SYMPTOMS,  DIAGNOSIS  AND TREATMENT OF UTERINE FIBROIDS AND THE ELEVATED
 RISK FOR MINORITY WOMEN AND  UPDATE  THE  INFORMATION  PROVIDED  IN  ITS
 EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS AND ON ITS INTERNET WEBSITE, AS APPROPRIATE.
   4.  THE  DEPARTMENT SHALL REPORT EVERY THREE YEARS, COMMENCING JANUARY
 FIRST, TWO THOUSAND TWENTY-SIX, TO THE GOVERNOR, THE TEMPORARY PRESIDENT

 AN  ACT  to  amend  the public health law, in relation to establishing a

   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
